National Tournaments 2012

Every year there are a number of national football tournaments/festivals around the UK that are held usually across Easter or May bank holiday weekends. As a club we want to be represented by our teams and have therefore decided to "Champion" one of these events every year. What this means is as a club we will select a national tournament/festival and it's venue whereby our teams (if they want to participate) will enter and travel as a club, in club colours etc.

National Tournaments/Festivals are generally held over a period of a weekend and require overnight stays for all participating families, thus entering such events can be costly to the individual/family and organising the administration can also be very stressful. Our club aim's to help with the admin and the cost where possible through fundraising. From this season (2011-2012) we have agreed to set up a "National Tournament Fund", whereby alongside Club Fundraising Events we will also allow teams that participate in the National Tournaments to have a central fund to contribute to, we've set up guidelines about this "Central National Tournament Fund" which all managers have been made aware of and will share with their teams.

The management committee will select a venue and share with all our members via this page on the website and also the next newsletter addition.

A few words from the chairman

"A national tournament is a great occasion for players, families and friends to enjoy playing football against teams from outside of the local area whilst also having the opportunity to relax and socialise at some of the UK's biggest and best child friendly holiday locations. Having experienced these tournaments myself as a player (yes they did them that along ago!!) and coach it's a fantastic trip and for some of the younger players there first experience of travelling a distance to play football etc.

From a club perspective there's nothing more satisfying than having a large number of teams travel together, socialise together and respresent our club at one event, thus demonstrating not only our clubs community/family ethos but also putting us firmly up there as a recognised Junior Football Club from the North East along with some other well established larger junior clubs from around the country. My vision is that every year we travel to a different location around the UK allowing everyone to experience the differeing venues and teams they'll play. So watch this space for further updates and i hope to see a lot of our teams at next years destination chosen."
