Parents/Suporters Code of Conduct

Parents / Spectators have a great influence on children's enjoyment and success in football.
All children play football because: -

- They first and foremost love the game
- Its fun
- They like playing with their mates
- Like the exercise

It is important to remember that however good a child becomes at football within our Club, it is important to reinforce the message to our Parents / Spectators, that positive encouragement will contribute to:

- Children enjoying football
- A sense of personal achievement
- Self-esteem
- Improving child's skills and techniques

A Parent / Spectator expectations and attitudes have a significant bearing on a Child's attitude towards:

- Other Players
- Officials
- Managers / Coaches
- Spectators

As a Parents / Spectators within our Club you are required to are always be positive and encouraging towards all the children, not just their own. Parents should:

- Applaud the opposition as well as your own Team
- Avoid coaching the child during the game / training; leave that to the Team Manager
- Not to shout or scream at the children, and refrain from any inappropriate language
- Do not argue with other persons in front of the children
- Respect the referee's decision, showing a good example to the children
- Do not question the team Manager's selection
- Any form of discrimination will not be tolerated and could lead to expulsion from the Club
- Follow the correct procedures in reporting any complaints

As a parent of a child in a football team you may be interested in doing the Soccer Parent Course at the F.A.Com. Soccer Parent is designed with coaches and parents in mind to provide guidance on specific areas that focus on the key issues involved when a child joins a football team.

Soccer Parent is a completely free online course that is available to anybody that registers with FA Learning - The FA's Educational Provider. Everyone that completes the course and achieves the pass mark can immediately print off an accredited certificate directly from the website.

As well as being designed to be informative, fun and engaging, one of the key aspects of the course is that coaches are given advice to assist in gaining positive contributions from parents as well as understanding issues on specific areas such as child welfare and attitudes.
